- The YF-S201 1/2 inch water flow sensor features a black plastic valve body, a water rotor, and a hall effect sensor. It can handle water flow rates of 1-30 liters per minute. Installed in line with water flow, its pinwheel sensor detects the volume of liquid passing through. Each revolution of the pinwheel generates an electrical pulse via the magnetic hall effect sensor, which is then sent to the controller to measure the flow rate. The hall effect sensor is protected from water by being sealed off from the liquid pipe.
Each electrical pulse the sensor generates corresponds to approximately 2.25 milliliters of water. The total water flow through the sensor can be accurately calculated by counting these pulses.
